Buying a house is stressful enough without a pushy agent. Right?
No one likes a pushy salesman! It’s even worse when you are buying a big-ticket item. You want to take your time and make sure you are making the right decision. Consider how many “buy your new car 100% online” options there are these days. No one wants to walk onto a car lot. It’s just annoying. And that is just buying a car!!! Buying a house is typically the largest purchase one makes in a lifetime. Now you feel like your own agent is pushing you to make a decision.
It may feel stressful, but a good buyer’s agent is pushing you for your own good, while protecting your interests along the way. The fact is that the real estate market moves very quickly, and the right homes sell fast. If you approach buying real estate in a leisurely manner, you will lose out on great opportunities. How many times have spotted a property you liked online, only to discover it sold in 1 day?
Your “pushy” agent is trying to put you in the best position to capitalize on these opportunities when they
appear:
· They push you to get a pre-approval
In the seller’s eyes pre-approval adds credibility to your buying power. Pre-approval also speeds up the overall lending process, resulting in a faster close- Win-Win for both sides.
· They push you to see new listings quickly
Properties that are priced correctly and are in a popular neighborhood will sell quickly, in any market. You will want to view the property in person before the rest of the pack gets a chance. This will give you time to decide whether you wish to prepare an offer. Offers take time to prepare.
· They push you to write an offer if you like a home
If you like it, act on it right away. You don’t want someone else snatching up your dream home while you are waiting on the sidelines. Your agent will craft an offer and subsequent agreement to include plenty of contingencies that will allow you to cancel the transaction if you need/want to, but you need to make quick decisions to make sure you have that option.
Buying a home can be a long and stressful process. Your “pushy” agent is there to help you move through it, correctly. At times, this also means quickly. Remember they do real estate for a living. If they seem pushy, it’s for good reason.
